Ho iniziato la pratica del karate nel lontano 1972 , uno dei miei primi Maestri è stato  Ben tan Hoo Jo Benjamin Sensei, che insegnava in quegli anni, il Karate Shotokan a Palermo, grazie al Maestro Shirai ed  all'allora federazione Fe.Si.Ka. Fondata dal Maestro Shirai.
Trasferitomi a Catania nel 1976, passai ad allenarmi con il compianto Maestro Pippo Grasso , nel vecchio Dojo di
Via Anapo, fucina di Campioni Mondiali come Ricciardi e Mavilla.
Avendo la fortuna di lavorare in Alitalia sulle linee di lungo raggio come comandante pilota, ed avendo la possibilità di recarmi mensilmente per lavoro a Tokyo, ho continuato la mia strada nel Karate tradizionale direttamente in Giappone.
 

Grazie al Maestro Takeshi Naito , responsabile JKA WF Italia, sono stato inserito nel 2011 in JKA, nelle fila della Nihon Karate Kyokai, unica Federazione di Karate, riconosciuta dal Governo Giapponese come Koeki Shadan Hojin , ovvero Ente di interesse pubblico.
Cio' mi ha permesso  di partecipare direttamente, ad allenamenti e Gasshuku in Honbu Dojo JKA a Tokyo.
 

Sempre seguendo gli insegnamenti del Maestro Naito e con la partecipazione ai corsi di Istruttore, istituiti da JKA Italia, nel 2011/12/13 ho raggiunto nel 2023 la qualifica di Istruttore JKA B ed Arbitro  International B, con l'importante  presenza in  commissione esami, del Maestro Oishi Takeshi IX Dan JKA, pluri campione mondiale JKA di Kumite ed esponente fondamentale in JKA Japan WorldWide ed attuale n°2 della JKA Tokyo.

​

Attualmente ricopro il grado di cintura nera V Dan JKA ed Arbitro Centrale Internazionale.


 Da Settembre 2012 cerco di divulgare  in Sicilia ciò che il mio   Maestro Naito Takeshi mi ha, e mi continua ad insegnare.
